4 Days!

Four days to go and I'll be Mrs. S! I can't believe it!

Today is my last day at work, PRAISE THE LORD! You'd better believe I'll be praying my way through the day. The past couple of months have been hard, and I'm so happy to be walking away. I'm just thankful the Lord was always there for me.

What's in a Name?

I have always loved my name, Melissa Carol. I have especially loved how I got my name.

When I was born, Dad was a huge fan of Little House in the Prairie.

I got my first name, "Melissa" from this little girl:

Melissa Gilbert who played Laura Ingles

My middle name, Carol came from the character my dad described as a "beautiful lady":

Caroline, the mother, played by Karen Grassle

I think that the biggest reason I love my name, and not just because I LOVE the show, but because my dad picked it out for me. Especially for me. And I love that.

Where did your parents get your name from?

Neat Fact: I was born February 10th, 28 years to the day the real Laura Ingles passed away. We shared the same day.

Happy Birthday Austin!!

See this little kid? This is my nephew, Austin. Today he turns the Big 6! Look out!

Austin was two when I moved from Kentucky to Georgia. He never got to get quite as attached to me as did my other two nephews as they were older. However, usually after a couple of hours into my visits with him, he becomes my little boy and won't let me out of his sight! He is a sensitive child, and will always be my sister's "baby".

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Sweet Boy!

*By the way, Little Guys DO RULE!

All I Wanna Do.....is Spray Paint

It's true. My hearts desire since I found Kimba's blog has been to spray paint. I love going to thrift stores and finding the neatest little things in need of updating, and creating a vision for them. Only one thing......I can't spray paint now. Nope, in one month I'll be getting married and moving into an apartment with my husband, until then no spray painting.

The thing is, I really can't have a proper vision until I have seen the apartment more than once. Then I need to figure out which slipcovers we'll be using for our loveseat and couch, and which curtains we'll hang. Sigh....now you can see my dilemma.

Until then...all the spray paints will remain in their grocery bags, and my thrifty treasures will remain all over my now-bedroom floor and the rest packed in storage (only because they beat the other "finds" there first).

One month and I'll be a spray painting beauty queen!

YAY!

Do you get into spray painting? If so, what is your MOST treasured piece?

Also, any hints or secrets for me when I begin my new journey? What things do I need for my Spray Painting Tool Box?

What's that Smell?

Oh, it's nothing....just a burning wooden spoon! Hello!

Please be aware, things in your dishwasher, especially those laying on hot coils, could catch on fire.

Enjoy your Friday! =D

Desk Organization: Before and After

So...I do realize that I said I would have my desk organization pictures up on September 11th, and today is the first of October. On 9/11, I chose to honor that day by writing about how I remember that day played out before me, seven years ago. After that day came and went, wedding invitations took over and BAM! My desk was messy again. Now, without further ado......

Before:

After:Note: The two pictures on the top of my desk are of Jonathan and I the first day we had ever hung out. We were crazy looking.

Before:
After:Note: These files may still look unorganized, but I worked VERY hard on updating them and trashing what I didn't need. AHHH...

Before:
After:Note: This space is now home to all of my jewelry making supplies and beads. I love this spot for all of my jewelry stuff. These plastic shoe boxes are only concealing all of the storage containers behind them.

Are you in the mood to doing a little organizing now that Fall is here?
