Advice on Colds

A friend of mine had been sick for nearly a week when she suddenly began to feel better.

"I tried so many different things, and now I feel so much better! The only thing is, I'm not sure what I tried that helped most. Or, if it was just a mixture of everything," she told me one evening.

Here I am, with a terrible cold and wondering, what things do you try that provide you with even the slightest bit of relief? Medicine is not working in my case.

Please, give me your tips for feeling better quickly.

THANKS!

To sooth a sore throat or chest congestion...we make a "hot drink". My husband is from Europe (Poland) and this is what they always did and now we do too because it helps relieve somewhat..
"Hot Drink"
pour a teaspoon or 2 of Ribena blackcurrent syrup (from local grocery store) into your mug
add a teaspoon of honey (or to taste)
add a slice of lemon
pour in your boiled water
mix and drink

When we have colds, we drink several a day and we find it helps.

Also, to relieve stuffy nose and just help overall...we also take a Sudafed (with milk or food so not to upset your stomach) and it helps for at least a couple hours

You can also make a cup of water with salt in it and swish it around your mouth and even gargle it in your throat and then spit it out, that helps for a sore throat.

CHicken soup helps!

And 2-3 extra strength Tylenol just helps overall with pain and discomfort.

Fishermens friend cough candys are also good for sore throats.

And lastly, we also use Vicks Vapo Rub and put on our chest and back and that REALLY helps.

And of course, prayer! I will be praying for you.
Get well soon!!!

Hi Candy!

Thanks for the wonderful advice.

Where can I find the Ribena syrup? Would it be with the pancake syrup? I wonder if we even have it here in the South.

I also love using Vicks Vapor rub, only I just wear it at night, I don't want people to be sniffing me all day, haha!

Really, thanks for the good advice, I'm going to put it all together after more people post and do one big post on it.

Thanks for praying for me, you're so sweet!
