Help!!! I need a meal plan!

I must admit part of my 9-2 job outside of home is monitoring meal plans for children, but when it comes to my own meal plan at home...well, it still ceases to exist. This evening I am sitting down with some of my cook books and going through and choosing "good" recipes. I'll write down what I need and go to the grocery tomorrow.

I know, I know, I KNOW that many of you have great, hard working meal plans that you are very devoted to every week...please share those with me...and all of my readers (the few of you that are there, hehe!). We REALLY would appreciate it. I love learning from all of you!

Link up any of your existing posts on meal plans or blog your meal plan that you've kept to yourself all this time...it'll be fun!!!!

I need to start working on this huh!? I'll link if I can get one in!

But i wanted to tell you just how i got my martha cookbook! First of all, I love Martha. Like, L-O-V-E her. She's my homemaking role model! Anyway, when she was promoting her book, she came to a local Sur La Table to do a book signing. You know I had to be there!!!! So, on the front page of my book is the signature of one miss martha stewart! ;)

Ummmm...we are suppose to have a meal plan!!!! YAHHHHHHHH! LOL. Truthfully, when I get home from grocery shopping, I take the meat we have bought, put it into dinner size portion (what will be needed for everyone) and pull out of the freezer when needed! All of my receipes are in my head! I will be more than happy to share with you my receipes and alot of them are of hispanic origin (due to hubby :D)! So let me know if that will help you! Good luck and I hope you find good ones!

Jennifer: Oh, I bet that was great getting a sighed book from Martha! Fortunate you! I would have been so nervous I would I have been sick!

I sent you an e-mail, by the way :D

Shauna: haha, you definitely don't have to have a meal plan if you are as good at preparing meals as you already are :D I on the other hand, am a newly wed and a fairly beginning cook. I cooked before when I needed to, but not every evening. I want to provide good, healthy meals for my husband, without having to stand in front of the freezer and cabinets saving, "What should we have tonight". I wanna be ready!!! :D
You should consider sharing some of your recipes with your readers, and provide pictures...we love new recipes :D

This will be great for me too! Sometimes I'm great at planning an awesome week of meals. And then other weeks--like this one--I'm terrible at it. Can't wait to read what folks share!

Okay, I rethought my comment. While I do not do weekly menus, I do prepare a menu. I linked up, so hopefully it will be a small bit of help to you.

I participate in Organizing Junkie's Menu Plan Mondays. You'll get lots of ideas there. Just Google her blog name and jump in.
Congratulations on your wedding.
My husband and I renewed our wedding vows on October 12, 2008. I wish you the very best years to come.

Hi Melissa!

So nice to "meet" you. You are indeed a very lovely bride. Congratulations on your marriage!

My husband George and I married two years ago, and I remember the excitement of trying to find delicious recipes I knew he would enjoy. While, it's been lots of fun, there have also been times of trial and error.

Each week I post my weekly menu for my blog readers. So far I've compiled 99 weeks' worth of menus -- several include recipes. I also posted a link for some of my favorite recipes for you.

Enjoy,

Trixie

I pretty much do the same thing you do. Sit w/cookbooks or online.
But I put my menus on the computer calender. I do it as an event, set it up for repeat every 2months right now and use the note space for info like what cookbook I found it in.

I do thing of favorite meals. Being it is just you 2 that should be easy. And if your hubby isn't a picky eater have fun trying new stuff. A big help is make a big batch for the freezer. Pulling out a meal when you really don't have time or it is on the schedule you have it.

Good luck and happy cooking.

Hi! I found you through Mrs. U. I don't personally meal plan alot but I wanted to reccomend two things for you:

Rachel Ray's cookbook - 365 days, No Repeats (Tasty recipes that give next day leftover recipes plus they're 30 minute meals!)

Taste of Home magazine - they have several different mags, one of which is just for couples - http://www.cookingfor2.com/ (and many times have several pages full of recipes with shopping lists included)

Hope this helps! Congrats on your marriage.

Mrs U: Thanks again for coming through for me. You definitely have a meal plan of sorts going on. Thanks for the links and sending others my way :D

Imperfect: We have so much to learn together from other ladies. Don't you just love the response we are getting?

Rona: Thanks for the link and the encouragement! Congrats to you on many years together! May God bless you with MANY more!

Trixie: Congrats on two years together. It is exciting knowing I'm responsible for planning a great meal, but sometimes I'm so lost. Sure I could have the same ole, same ole...and he'd probably be happy....but where's the fun in that? Thanks for your help...I'll be checking out your recipes for sure!

Barbara Lee: Now that's a great idea, repeating menus every couple of months are so. No one would ever be able to tell! Unfortunately, my husband is a picky eater. He doesn't like most veggies or potatoes. He is strange in that way, but he totally makes up for it in kindness :D Besides, he LOVES chicken and doesn't mind leftovers :D Freezing large quantities...now that a great idea!

Danita: Thanks for the cookbook recommendation...I LOVE cookbooks! Mrs. U. introduced me to Taste of Home, I can't wait to start receiving the magazine!

Thanks for your advice, Ladies!

I've tried a million different ways to plan meals. I finally got burned out and started subscribing to a weekly menu planner. Some of them are really expensive and some of them are free. I, however, found one that was completely affordable and linked to it. It saves me a ton of time and even makes my shopping list for me :) They also have a free version!

Hi, Melissa! Found your blog last night, and your post inspired me to sit down and think about my own meal plans for my family. I did have a few ideas...if anything it could be more of a "what not to do" link for you. ;) Congratulations on your marriage!

Hi, Melissa! Just wanted to let you know about my friend Kendra's cooking/food blog. She is taking the month of January to do a series on how to cook a healthy, fresh meal without sacrificing taste/flavor/deliciousness. I've had a chance to sample her cooking and it's amazing so this should be fantastic!

You can find her at:

www.myfirstkitchen.net

Hope this helps!

Lisa: Thanks for the advice. It's good to know there is help at there when we get stuck! :D

Mrs U: I'll have to add "All the Above" next time :D

Amanda: Thanks for linking up! I've already hopped by your blog and I appreciate your help soooo much!

Imperfect: I have actually been looking at her site recently and LOVE it! What a great help her website will be to me! I've already used some of her ideas! Thanks a lot!

mmmm. Something I plan to do time and time again, but have started this past couple of weeks. Every time we're budgeting big-style, the menu plans come back to life. Note to self: must be consistent!!
Love your blog. And what a beautiful bride you were. Love from Scotland, Anne
